Medicaid Cancer Foundation joined Project Pink Blue for a 5km awareness/advocacy walk on the 3rd of Feb to mark the World Cancer Day. Together, the teams, alongside other partners, advocates, activists and champions, walked shoulder-to-shoulder demonstrating a call to action in line with the WCD theme, ‘Close the care gap’.
The CEO of Medicaid made strong remarks at this time on the need to close the gap by addressing key challenges such as inadequate cancer care support from State Governments, poor cancer screening and treatment infrastructure in the country, unstandardized research scarce of funding as well as stigmatization in Cancer care and control among others.
The sessions were highly interactive, with the audience actively participating and asking numerous questions about the HPV vaccine’s side effects and other concerns. The program team provided clear, evidence-based information to alleviate fears and misconceptions. In addition to cervical cancer education, the outreach included valuable discussions on Nutrition, Drug abuse, HIV, Personal hygiene & Early detection of various health conditions.
