School Advocacy Program (Stem Child Care Academy, Abuja)

January marks Cervical Cancer Awareness Month, as part of our activities, the programs team at Medicaid Cancer Foundation conducted a comprehensive Cervical Cancer Awareness Program at Stem Child Care Academy, Abuja  to empower young girls and teachers with knowledge about Cervical Cancer Awareness, HPV Education and the Importance of the HPV Vaccination.

Discussions centered around HPV transmission, prevention, and the role of the HPV vaccine in safeguarding future health. Educational brochures and posters were shared with participants to reinforce the messages shared.

A total of 63 girls and 5 staff were engaged and 11 girls aged 9 received their first dose of the HPV vaccine, marking a significant step toward reducing the risk of cervical cancer within the community. This vaccination milestone was made possible thanks to the support of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), which provided the vaccines for free.
