#CervicalCancerAwarenessMonth: Medicaid Cancer Foundation Carries Out Free Cervical Cancer Screening and Awareness Program in Jega.
In commemoration of the Cervical Cancer Awareness Month (January), Medicaid Cancer Foundation has carried out free Cervical and Breast cancer screening to more than 150 Women in Jega Local Government of Kebbi State.
The Screening and Awareness Program was part of MCF’s activities in marking the 2023 World Cancer Day coming up on the 4th of February 2023, with the theme; #CloseTheCareGap and also in line with the Foundation’s vision for a cervical cancer free world.
The program aligns with W.H.O’s target of 90-70-90 and the Kebbi State Cervical Cancer elimination program supported by CHAI and other development partners.
While going round the screening, the Founder/CEO of Medicaid Cancer Foundation, UICC Board Member, Her Exellencey Dr. Zainab Shinkafi Bagudu advised the women to support and encourage others to participate in cancer screenings and debunk misconceptions about cervical cancer screening.
Other important personalities at the screening program included the Hon. Commissioner of Health, Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Member State House of Assembly, Chairman Jega LGA, Acting Permanent Secretary Kebbi State Ministry of Health, Executive Secretary, SPHCDA and traditional rulers.
In addition, the MCF Team sensitized women on various types of cancer, symptoms and the importance of regular screening.
