WalkAway Cancer, launched in 2014, is Nigeria’s largest cancer fundraiser, advocacy platform, and family-friendly fitness event.

WalkAway Cancer is an annual advocacy and fundraising event organised by the Medicaid Cancer Foundation to unite communities in the fight against cancer. Launched in 2014, the initiative has grown into Nigeria’s largest cancer fundraiser and awareness platform, bringing together survivors, caregivers, health professionals, policymakers, and the general public to walk side by side in solidarity against the disease. Each year’s WalkAway Cancer features a 5 km advocacy walk that takes participants through designated routes with advocacy chants, informational stations, and community engagement activities. Beyond the walk itself, the event includes a Health & Wellness Village offering free medical services such as breast checks, eye screenings,
HPV vaccination, general consultations, and wellness education. There’s also a closing rally and concert, food and vendor stalls, and post-walk celebrations that make the event both impactful and family-friendly. Officials and community leaders often deliver talks aimed at raising

The Charity Corner is an on-site/online charity initiative that proffers support for cancer patient care, and cancer awareness programs and caters for free cancer screenings through funds raised via sales of discounted merchandise and artifacts.
