Breast Cancer Screening 2025

Medicaid Cancer Foundation’s Breast Cancer Screening & Diagnostic Initiative

Why Pink October?

October is internationally recognized for breast cancer awareness. In Nigeria, late presentation is a major challenge, and increasing screening access is vital. Medicaid Cancer Foundation’s Pink October initiative is designed to bring screening, diagnostics, and treatment services to more women — especially those who would otherwise wait or avoid care.

Our mission is to reduce breast cancer mortality through early detection, timely diagnosis, and care support. We aim to increase awareness, education, and access in underserved communities.

Why Screening Matters

Breast cancer is most treatable when detected early. Screening helps detect cancer before symptoms appear. Early detection gives women more options and better chances for survival. Many women in Nigeria still believe that screening is painful or unnecessary. Our initiative tackles these myths and promotes early action.
