The traditional ruler of Gwandu Sarkin Gabas Alhaji Mohammed Bello Haruna Rasheed supported the cause and called on women to use the opportunity to get screened and husbands to give their wives permission to attend the screening.
Cancer Education was given a boost by Dr Aminu Bunza and Dr Jibril Gwandu. Even more cancer awareness was spread by students of Federal Government Girls College Gwandu and Tambuwal with drama sketches and songs.
In attendance were the Wife of the Kebbi state governor and founder of Medicaid Cancer Foundation Dr Zainab Shinkafi Bagudu, Commissioner of Health Alh Umaru Kambaza, Permanent secretary women affairs Hajiya Halima Dikko, Dr Abubakar Kaoje, Gwandu LG sole administrator amongst others.
The big crowd of men, women, old and young also listened to Medicaid Cancer Foundation Ambassador Rahama Sadau,who gave a captivating story of the benefits of early detection. This story has been captured in a hausa film called “Yakin Abu” (Abu’s Fight) commissioned by the foundation in which she stars.
