CERVICAL CANCER FACTS

Cervical cancer is a cancer arising from the cervix due to abnormal growth of cells that have the ability to spread to other parts of the body.
Almost all cases of cervical cancer are caused by Human Papillomavirus (HPV)

CAUSES AND RISK FACTORS
– HPV
– Smoking
– Long term use of oral contraceptive (#BirthControlPills)
– Being overweight
– Diet low in fruits and vegetables
– Engaging in early sexual contact
– having multiple sex partners
SIGNS & SYMPTOMS OF CERVICAL CANCER

Initially, cervical cancer does not cause symptoms. It may be detected on #papsmear screening and subsequent screening even before symptoms have developed. However, when symptoms occur, most common is #ABNORMAL VAGINAL BLEEDING

This can include bleeding:
– Between menstrual period
– Bleeding after sexual intercourse
– Douching or a pelvic exam
– bleeding after menopause
